LANCASHIRE HERALDRY 
We have called this page 'Lancashire Heraldry' because the pictures are from memorials that are to be found
in and around the Parish Churches in our Northern part of Lancashire.
Below are some of the interesting heraldry we have discovered during our project work, symbols and arms
are often found on grave stones but it is the memorials inside the Church, Civic Building and Stately Homes etc
that have been preserved, the heraldry can usually be found on memorial tablets and in Stained Glass Windows.
Possibly the finest place to discover Heraldry in the UK is the Shire Hall at Lancaster Castle.
For a Millennium project, our Lancashire Society Heraldry Group completed the mammoth task of recording
all the heraldry at Lancaster Castle, they then published it as an 100+ page A4 book in 2000. see below..

Holy Trinity Church Bolton-le-Sands
Left is the BRADLEY family and this coat of arms
Is to be found high on the wall above the memorial to:
LYDIA wife of ROBERT GREENE BRADLEY
1788 - 1836
Right is for the GREENE family and is to be found on
the South wall on the memorial for:
THOMAS GREENE Constable of Lancaster Castle
for 30 years, M P for Lancaster.
born 1794 died 1872
 
WILSON Families at Over Kellet
All three of these examples were found at St Cuthbert's Church
Over Kellet, they are carved memorials from around 1700.
The first is for JOHN WILSON of Hall Garth born 1655 died 1707.
The middle one is for HENRY WILSON Esq. died 1772 aged 70 
The right hand caved memorial with a similar coat of arms is for:
THOMAS WILSON of Over Kellet who was born 1650 and died 1702.
The mullet on the body of the wolf has been replaced with a crescent.
Thomas was a benefactor to the people of Kellet and Capernwray and
endowed the free school in Over Kellet that thrives today as:
