The branch has transcribed a lot of the
Parish registers of this part of North Lancashire,
there can be few grave yards in the area that have not been
recorded by our famous
'Dead Club'
All the Lancaster & Morecambe Census
returns 1841-1901 have been collated, and, although they can
now
be readily accessed on the internet, our own indexes
sometime find persons missing on the internet index.
The branch fully transcribed the 1881 census for this area
in collaboration with the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-Day Saints. Today this 1881 census for England,
Scotland & Wales is available free of charge on the internet
at
www.familysearch.org
and at
Libraries and at our branch thanks to Family History Society
volunteers in the UK. You can still get your own personal
set of 24 CD's for the 1881 UK census
Most of the project work that has been
undertaken locally in the past 26 years is published by our
Lancashire Family History & Heraldry Society, it is in
either Book or Microfiche form and now in CD format,
we still have a lot of data that has yet to be published and
members can ask for a search of this data.
The full list of Projects that the society has available are
to be found on the
Lancashire Family History & Heraldry main web site
www.lfhhs.org.uk
Microfiche can be ordered direct from
fiche@lfhhs.co.uk
The resources held by the branch and its member are too
numerous to be listed here
but we do hold a vast Library of Books, Microfiche and CD's
that members may borrow.
Most of our Lancashire Society projects that are on
microfiche are now housed at
Morecambe reference Library and any researcher,
member or non-member, can have free
access to view them.
All
members have FREE access to the societies
